Full course description
The UA Safe Title IX Training is a required annual training for students, employees, and volunteers that informs the UA community on:
- The University of Alaska’s system-wide prohibition against sex and gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment;
- The existence of the U.S. Office for Civil Rights and its authority to enforce Title IX;
- The rights of students, employees, and visitors under Title IX;
- How to identify, prevent, and report sex and gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment, and other prohibited conduct;
- What to expect when a person makes a report to their Title IX Office;
- What supportive measures are and how to access them;
- What a “responsible employee” is and their reporting requirements;
- What to do and how to report suspected abuse or neglect of a minor;
- Complaint resolution options and the steps of the Title IX grievance process (including possible hearings, sanctions, and appeals);
- How to identify and report hazing; and
- Bystander intervention strategies.
Students, employees, and volunteers are required to complete this training annually between July 1st - October 31st and it is valid until June 30th the following year.
This training is valid from July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027 (FY27).
